Death Magnetic is Metallica's ninth studio album, it was released in the US in September of 2008. Death Magnetic is the fifth album in a row to be released at number one for Metallica. Making them the first band in history to have 5 consecutive albums debut at number one. The first single from this album was 'The day that never comes' which was released on August 21st of 2008. It has been said that this song is the most mellow on the album but the fans love the sound of Death Magnetic because it sounds more like the original hard core sound that they used to put out. Songs from the album have become hits in many counries and can be heard all over the radio, which have contributed greatly to its success. This album has recieved 4 Grammy awards.
